Avery Dennison signs a vPPA with Zelestra for renewable energy capacity from its 44 MWdc Las Rozas solar plant in Spain

Zelestra’s Las Rozas solar plant will generate 90 GWh of renewable electricity per year, avoiding 16,290 tons of CO2 emissions annually
Zelestra, a global, multi-technology, customer-focused renewable energy company has signed a ten-year virtual power purchase agreement (vPPA) from its 44 MWdc Las Rozas solar plant in Spain with Avery Dennison, a global materials science and digital identification solutions company.
The decade-long commitment by Avery Dennison to purchase renewable energy certificates from Zelestra marks a milestone in the company’s sustainability and carbon reduction program. Avery Dennison is dedicated to minimizing the environmental impact of its operations, targeting a 70% reduction in scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030.
Zelestra’s Las Rozas solar plant, located in Seville, Spain, will generate approximately 90 GWh of renewable electricity per year, equivalent to the annual consumption of 25,000 Spanish households. This will prevent the emission of roughly 16,290 tons of CO2 per year, significantly contributing to the decarbonization of the region and reducing the Avery Dennison carbon footprint.
The agreement reinforces Zelestra’s commitment to helping its customers decarbonize their operations through renewable energy solutions.
Ivan Nieto, Chief Commercial Officer of Zelestra, commented, “The vPPA with Avery Dennison is a clear example of how Zelestra creates customized energy solutions to support our customers’ decarbonization efforts. We are proud to partner with Avery Dennison by delivering clean, sustainable energy that allows them to make progress on their sustainability and emissions reduction objectives.”
Michael Colarossi, Head of Enterprise Sustainability, Avery Dennison, said “Accessing sustainable energy sources is foundational to our company’s overall commitment to reducing scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions. We are partnering with Zelestra to make sustainable energy sources more widely available across the energy grid.”
With this agreement, Zelestra continues to expand in Spain, a key growth market for the company. Zelestra operates eleven renewable energy plants in Spain with a total installed capacity of 428 MWdc and a project portfolio currently exceeding 5 GW.
